Craven Regional Medical Center, New Bern, NC

Construction has begun on the new $14.5 million dollar vertical expansion of the Hospital's existing bed tower. The project adds a Fifth Floor to the 100 Wing,and Fourth and Fifth Floors to the 600 Wing.  Also included is major renovations to the Third Floor of the 400 and 600 Wings. The multi-phased project construction is expected to take approximately 16 months.  The new additions and renovations should open in September 2009. 

 

Carolina Medical Center-Pineville Campus

Phase I and Phase II Projects

WMBA is providing architectural services for the Phase I and II expansion and renovation of CMC-Pineville's campus.  Construction for Phase I has passed the mid point with portions of it opened to the public already. 

WMBA has begun the Design Development Documents for the Phase II Renovation and Expansion of the Hospital Campus. When completed Phase II will include approximately 225,000 square feet of new construction. A major portion of this construction will be a new six story Patient Bed Tower of which the upper four floors will be for Patient rooms and the two lower floors will be for the Clinical Services and Support functions.  The new Bed Tower will be connected to the existing Medical Office Building, the new Parking Deck, and the existing Hospital, by a series of passage ways and separate patient transport walkways. Phase II will also include approximately 50,000 square feet of renovated space.  The construction will be phased in order to accommodate department relocations, and expansions and renovations of the hospital without major disruptions in patient services.

In addition, construction for the new Central Energy Plant has begun.  The new facility will be a free standing structure that encompasses approximately 21,000 square feet.  The new Central Energy Plant is being constructed to accoummodate the energy needs for the new expanded campus and centralize all energy needs for the Hospital in one building.

 

OrthCarolina

Muliple Locations in Metro Charlotte Area

WMBA has been retained to provide design services for OrthCarolina in the Metro Charlotte Area. WMBA is working on a clinic and physical therapy facility that will be located on the first floor of the new Pineville Medical Plaza Office Building.  It will be approximately 11,500 square feet.  Plans are underway for a new physical therapy facility that will be located in the existing Wendover Medical Office Building. It will contain roughly 5,500 square feet. Also on the drawing board are a 23,000 square foot clinic and physical therapy facility for the New Medical Office Building in the Matthews Parkway Corporate Center and another 20,800 square foot clinic and physical therapy facility located in the New Medical Office Building within the University Exchange in Charlotte.

 

Medical Office Tenant Upfits

Fort Mills, SC and Waxhaw, NC

The Interior Team is excited to announce a few of their projects that are currently in progress.  Under construction at the Medical Office Building located in Fort Mill, SC is approximately 28.000 square feet of newly up fitted space.  Scheuduled to open the first of the year is a new CMC Urgent Care, Rock Hill Pediatrics, Shiland Family Practice and Sanger Clinic.

The Interior Team is also working with Sanger on other new locations for their clinics at CMC-Union and CMC-Pineville.  Each location will contain approximately 12,000 square feet in the adjacent Medical Office Building next to each hospital.

Currently in the design phase is the new interior upfit the Medical Office Building in Waxhaw, North Carolina.  The Interior Team is designing spaces for the Medical Group of Waxhaw and Charlotte Medical Clinic. The Interior Team will be responsible for the design of the common areas for the Medical Office Building.
