With the 5,800 -square -foot Charlotte Internal Medicine and Specialty Group and Carolinas Rehabilitation practice, the Dowd YMCA will serve as the first YMCA of Greater Charlotte location to offer primary care and on -demand care, including Virtual Visit within its facility. This partnership focuses on five key areas: preventing and managing chronic disease, improving behavioral health, improving access to care, reducing violence and eliminating health disparities. Services offered at the new practice, located in uptown Charlotte, include preventative care and wellness exams, treatment of acute illnesses, chronic disease management, women’s health, orthopedic and sports physical therapy, video gait analysis and running assessments, and joint mobilization, among others. Wright McGraw Beyer worked with Balfour Beatty Construction to provide a cohesive build working alongside teams from the YMCA and other general contractors to complete the project. This included six exam rooms on either side of a centralized Nurse Station, along with a Rehabilitation Gym and a Waiting Room that also serves as a Multi -Purpose Room. We utilized BIM technology to provide renderings of the space to finalize architectural details, as well as to select finishes, floor patterns, and furniture with the end users. This allowed the staff to visualize the space easier, and aided in quality of deign review meetings
