Atrium Health – King’s Mountain

This 32,000 square foot, $8 million, multi-phase project provides a dramatic front entrance with a circular drop off, an expanded Emergency Department, and a relocated and expanded Surgery Department. In addition to new Operating Rooms and a new Recovery Area, the project provided a large Surgery Waiting Area where family and friends can receive patient progress information. A Refreshments Area and Children’s Play Area further enhance the care giver’s comfort. The addition and renovation of the Emergency Department were designed to provide fast track, walk-in care services to expedite the treatment of patients. Private Triage and Treatment Rooms enhance patient confidentiality and improve staff efficiency through “right-sized” support spaces. The addition was designed to modernize and complement the existing Hospital, while also providing updated aesthetics. Circular elements, large expanses of glass, and tiered planting areas serve to enhance the visitor’s experience.
