OrthoCarolina University ASC

About This Project

OrthoCarolina’s University Ambulatory Surgery Center is an 11,300 square foot renovation and 2,680 square foot addition to an existing Medical Office Building in the University Area of Charlotte, NC. The existing OrthoCarolina Clinic located on the First Floor and office support spaces on the Second Floor remained fully operational during the construction of this project, requiring carefully planned construction phasing. The Second Floor renovation constructed a fully independent ASC with one Procedure Room, two ORs, Decontamination/Sterilization spaces, and all supporting Pre/Post Procedure Areas. During the design phase, WMBA made it a priority to maintain the ability for future growth within the renovated space. A new elevator sized to transport stretcher patients and a Discharge Canopy were added to the building and designed to blend with the existing exterior aesthetics. WMBA also designed an emergency generator and screen enclosure located directly adjacent to the existing building
